WPS Player Signing Heating Up

It seems like the WPS player signings are heating up ever since Marta declared she would join the LA Sol for 3 years. As mention before, the Chicago Red Stars has signed England international Karen Carney. According to a Swedish newspaper Frida Östberg and Caroline Jönsson have also reached an agreement with Chicago. An official announcement is expected in a few days.
Japanese star Homare Sawa is also rumored to be very close to a deal with the Washington Freedom according to her former club NTV Beleza. Sawa used to play in the WUSA for the Atlanta Beat from 2000-2003.
Some notable players still on the bubble are Cristiane, Kelly Smith, Alex Scott and Daniela. Cristiane has said she would go to Chicago in February. Hopefully this means she will sign a contract during that time. News out of Boston is that Kelly Smith and Alex Scott both attended a youth soccer ODP U15 camp and signed autographs. Hopefully this is a sign that they are close to a deal with the Boston Breakers.
We have not heard any news about Daniela Alves. Last season she played in Linköpings FC. The last we heard about Daniela is when she gave an interview with Swedish news site, SVT.SE. in September 2008. She said if offered a contract to stay with Linköpings FC she would happily say, “Yes.” However, Linköpings FC has listed on their website that Daniela won’t be part of the 2009/2010 squad.
